According to new rumours, the next Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 will both be IPX8 water resistant, putting them on par with the company’s non-folding phones. Max Weinbach had previously posted the information, which has now been confirmed by Evan Blass, who tweeted the rating along with what appears to be a Samsung graphic of the phones being splashed.
The water resistance information adds to a slew of leaks and photographs we’ve seen building up to Samsung Unpacked event on August 11th, where the phones are likely to be unveiled. The rumoured IPX8 grade for the phones, as SlashGear points out, does not include dust resistance, which has been a source of concern since Samsung began creating folding phones.
We now know how Samsung wants us to attach the stylus to the phone, thanks to a different leak: by using a cover that fits it precisely over the hinge. It’s a similar way to how Samsung handled the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s pen functionality, but perhaps a little more beautiful. We’ve also seen WinFuture’s allegedly leaked official marketing renders of the Z Flip 3, which show off the larger outer screen and re-oriented dual cameras. The original Z Flip and Z Flip 5G had a small outside screen, which relegated the alerts and clock to a corner of the phone’s cover.
