IKEA is the forerunner of furniture embedded with wireless charging coils. The Sjömärke, a $39.99 wireless charging pad made to work with furniture you already own. The company also introduces furniture by back option in the US.
This device isn’t like a Qi charging pad, where users put phones or earbuds directly on the mat. Instead, the seven-inch by three-inch aluminium and plastic charger works through plastic or wood, so you can use its double-sided tape to put it on the underside of a table or shelf.
The led light in the device indicates that the device is charging is launching a new buyback service in the U.S., beginning with a pilot at a store near its North American headquarters in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, where used products will be resold. Ikea has already started rolling out the service in other countries, from the U.K. to Singapore. When someone wants to sell an item, they fill out a form online and indicate the condition, and Ikea offers an estimate of how much it can pay.
