Americans Take up New Steps to Stop Spread of Delta Variant

Just as health experts had expected, the combination of unvaccinated people and the more infectious Delta Variant of the coronavirus has led to new Covid-19 surges.

In 46 counties of the United States, the rates of newer cases in this past week are at least 10% higher than the rates of the newly discovered cases in the previous week, according to the data released from Johns Hopkins University.In 31 states, the newer cases this past week are at least 50% higher than the new cases discovered in the previous week.In the vast majority of the newly discovered Covid-19 cases, the hospitalizations and deaths have one thing in common: they are primarily among the unvaccinated people, according to the doctors.

More than 99% of all the Covid-19 deaths in June 2021 were among the unvaccinated people, according to Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And the younger people are also getting hospitalized with Covid-19 complications.Dr. Howard Jarvis, said that the Covid-19 patients under his observation are younger than ever.

And all the Covid-19 patients who have been admitted to his hospital during this time of surge have not been vaccinated yet.If they are sick enough to be admitted to the hospital, they are unvaccinated. He further explained that before the vaccinations were introduced, hospitals were seeing a much older population of patients in the emergency department and as they were getting admitted to the hospital.
